Crimean Tatar culture week to be held in Lviv

AQMESCIT/ SIMFEROPIL, 27.07.10 (QHA) – Youth plans to hold a week of the Crimean Tatar culture in the city of Lviv (Western Ukraine). This is informed by one of the organizers of the event Ernes Mambet.

According to him, the week of the Crimean Tatar culture in Lviv will be held on August 3-8 in a premise of the “Museum of Ideas”. Youth organizations of Lviv and Aqmescit (Simferopil) are the initiators of the event.

Within the framework of the event, video clips will be shown, concerts of Crimean Tatar ensembles Qırım, Maqam and well-known Crimean Tatar singers and musicians Dilâver Osman, Jamala, Enver Izmail, Merziye Halit and Elmira Emir will take place.

In addition, master class on preparation of Crimean Tatar ethnic dishes, tasting of dishes and sweets of the Crimean Tatar cuisine are also to be conducted.

“We are going to bring to Lviv young singers and dancers who will be able to represent the Crimean Tatar ethnic flavour and will acquaint Lviv inhabitants with the culture of our people”, noted Mr. Mambet.

In particular, Emine Mustafa, Afize Yusuf qızı, Talât Seiabla, as well as representatives of the Crimean Tatar ensemble Qırım, historians, art historians and chefs of national cuisine are preparing for the trip.

The organizers also report that the audience will be proposed to participate in the programme for women, so that to become engrossed in the world of the indigenous people of Crimea – the Crimean Tatars. It is “Hna gecesı” (Henna Night) for girls (hen party held before the wedding, where friends and relatives of the bride paint her fingertips, somewhere even toes with henna, as well dye her hair. The last of henna is used to paint fingers of all present girls with wishes to get married in the near future), and “Yavluq oyunı” (men’s dance with kerchief).
